The First Meal By the end of the second week, I have completed the task of making my first meal. The food I prepared was a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. For the first meal of the project it was a pretty easy start, I would have to say the hardest part was keeping track of everything that I was doing while cooking.Starting out with this project was a simple breakfast item that was pretty easy to make and with a few added elements. The main ingredients of the sandwich were whole wheat bread, Colby cheese, bacon, and eggs. Things added on to the food for more flavor were salsa, butter, avocado, salt, and pepper. An added side was pear slices for a snack and to make sure I hit all food groups within the meal and to have more food. I was struggling trying to find things to add flavor to the food so I looked through my fridge and saw avocado. I looked up if avocado went good with eggs since I already knew I was making an egg and bacon sandwich and the results were that avocados are a good combination with eggs and bacon. I also included salsa to add a little kick. On the first day, Monday, I honestly did a whole lot of nothing. My main focus at the time was school work and I forgot about the project. I had a lot of stress this week of school because I had three major tests and two quizzes. On Tuesday, I started to brainstorm ideas for what I could make this week. I was thinking about doing spaghetti and meatballs with a couple of other things with it, but decided to do a breakfast meal instead because they are usually more simple and I thought I should keep it easy for the first time. On Wednesday I took a break from everything and decided to have a chill day and take it easy so that I don't overload myself with everything. On Thursday I chose to do a breakfast sandwich with some pears on the side as a snack. Friday I tried making everything as practice. The end result wasn't ideal because the eggs were cold by the time I was done with everything. The next day was the day that I was going to make my final product. On Saturday I began to cook so that on Sunday I could focus on writing my blog. When I started cooking, I was super tired. The results I got were not great and I did not like what I made. I restarted a little bit later after I had woken up a bit and was doing much better. Actually cooking the items was not very hard, but what was challenging was managing everything at an even pace so that individual pieces of food didn't get cold before everything else was done. First I put two pieces of bacon on a frying pan to get the grease to spread on the pan. Then I put the eggs on the pan to cook them and tossed some bread into the toaster. I took the bacon off after it was cooked and started to cut the avocado. After cutting the avocado, the eggs were done so I took those off and the toast was also done so I buttered it. Everything was done at this point and I was doing good on time. I started to put everything together, the eggs, bacon, avocado, cheese, and then some salsa out of a jar. As I said I did pretty good on time this time around so everything was warm still. The way I will be rating the food from now on will be based on the taste, the visual appeal, and the consistency of specifically warmth. For this sandwich, I would give this an 8/10 on taste. I personally liked this a lot, although it may have been because I was extremely hungry. For an outside source, I made two sandwiches and I ate one and my mom ate the other. She gave it a 7/10 on taste. In my personal opinion, the appearance of the sandwich is a 5/10. It kind of looks like a brain. My mom's rating was 4/10, she had a similar description to mine. For consistency, my rating was 9/10, the eggs were getting a little bit to room temperature but everything else was good. My mom's rating was 8/10. The overall rating of the sandwich was a 6/10, which I hope to beat next week.

The Frustrating Beginning of Genius HourThe beginning of my project has been hard but interesting. Within the first week of Genius Hour, I have accomplished two major goals. The first being creating and formatting my website. For the first part of Week 1, I learned how to create and customize my own website. At first I was confused after watching tutorials on how to establish a website mainly because I didn't know what exactly should go into the website. After looking and studying other people's sites, I understood what was required of my page. Next I started researching and learning the many different methods of cooking. After creating my website, I began on the road of research. I have no idea how to cook hardly anything so finding where to start was difficult. I gave up on the first day of research after struggling to find a good YouTube channel that gave lessons on cooking and where to start. After learning the basics, I started looking into the different methods of cooking such as roasting, boiling, and steaming. I am staying away from baking in my project due to many other people doing baking as their focus. Though I have learned a couple of things, there is still much to discover and much planning to be made for the future of this project.
